Supporting Children and Youth Across Niagara

Where connection, confidence, and growth come together.

Horse Sense for Kids is a registered nonprofit organization serving Niagara, Ontario, dedicated to creating spaces of connection and trust for children and youth facing adversity. For many of the children we serve, life can feel overwhelming, and finding a place where they feel safe, seen, and supported can make all the difference.

Through guided interactions with horses, children experience moments of calm, confidence, and connection. They learn to understand their emotions, build resilience, and discover strengths they may not have known they had. Our experiential, relationship-based approach is rooted in the belief that meaningful experiences with horses can open the door to healing, growth, and hope.

The Horse Sense for Kids Approach

Connection & Trust

A safe, supportive environment where children build meaningful relationships with horses, peers and caring adults.

Confidence & Emotional Well-Being

Hands-on experiences that strengthen self-awareness, resilience, and emotional regulation in a positive, encouraging setting.

Experiential Horsemanship

Learning through doing with guided, relationship-focused activities that foster growth, communication, and connection.

Equity & Opportunity

Programs designed to reduce barriers and meet children where they are, creating welcoming spaces for every child.

The Power of Horses

Horses are sensitive, social animals that respond to human emotions and body language. Their ability to offer honest, non-verbal feedback helps children develop emotional awareness, confidence, and self-regulation in a calm, supportive setting.

Through meaningful experiences with horses, children learn to stay present, build trust, and experience success without pressure or judgment.

Our Impact

“My daughter loves barn days and is always excited to go. Paige will tell you it’s the best day of the week! She is a very quiet, shy girl who has been searching for a special place to belong. Since joining the Horse Sense Horsemanship Program, I have seen so much growth in her confidence and sense of identity.”
